At the 2024 Paris Motor Show, ceramic battery manufacturer ProLogium unveiled its groundbreaking solid-state battery technology, claiming that its silicon composite anode battery can be charged from 5% to 60% in just five minutes, providing electric vehicles (EVs) with a 186-mile (300 km) range in the time it takes to order a coffee. This development represents a major leap forward in charging speed and range for EVs.

Silicon Composite Anode Battery: Higher Energy Density and Faster Charging
ProLogium’s silicon composite anode battery offers significantly higher energy density—both volumetric and gravimetric—compared to conventional lithium-ion (Li-ion) and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. According to certification by TÜV Rheinland in Germany, the battery achieves a volumetric energy density of 749 watt-hours per liter (Wh/L) and a gravimetric energy density of 321 watt-hours per kilogram (Wh/kg). In contrast, LFP batteries typically offer under 200 Wh/L, and Li-ion batteries deliver between 200 and 300 Wh/kg, making ProLogium’s battery far denser than existing technologies.
ProLogium’s representatives also expect that, through ongoing development, their silicon anode batteries will achieve up to 77% higher energy densities by the end of 2024. The five-minute charging time for 186 miles (300 km) is much faster than the industry average of 30 minutes to reach the same range.
Smaller Battery Packs, Longer Ranges for EVs
The higher energy density, both by volume and weight, means that manufacturers can get more power from smaller batteries. This allows for more compact EV designs with the same power output, reclaiming valuable space that would typically be occupied by larger battery packs. Alternatively, manufacturers could achieve much longer driving ranges from the same battery size, allowing sub-compact vehicles to travel farther than they currently can.
Additionally, ProLogium’s battery features a modular design, making maintenance and repair significantly easier. Unlike traditional battery packs, where damage to a single cell may require replacing the entire pack, ProLogium’s battery allows for selective repair, reducing replacement costs.
Looking Ahead: Innovation in the Electric Vehicle Industry
As the electric vehicle market continues to grow rapidly, innovations in battery technology will play a crucial role in driving the industry forward. ProLogium’s silicon anode solid-state battery not only offers significantly improved charging speeds and longer ranges, but also provides cost and service benefits. As this technology matures, it is expected to become a mainstream solution in the EV market, helping to accelerate the global adoption of electric vehicles and contributing to environmental sustainability.
With ongoing advancements, ProLogium’s silicon anode battery is poised to become a leading technology in the electric vehicle sector, offering consumers a more efficient, convenient, and green way to travel.
