SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 17, 2024 — LG Energy Solution (LGES) has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Silicon Valley-based mobility innovator Bear Robotics. Under the agreement, LGES will become the exclusive supplier of 2170 cylindrical battery cells for Bear Robotics’ flagship robots, including the Servi Plus and Carti 100, beginning in 2025. This partnership highlights both companies’ commitment to technological advancement and their competitive edge in the rapidly growing global robotics market.

Exclusive Supply of 2170 Cylindrical Batteries
As per the MoU, LGES will supply its high-performance 2170 cylindrical battery cells for Bear Robotics’ service and logistics robots. Renowned for their exceptional safety and performance, LGES batteries will power automation solutions designed to revolutionize the restaurant and industrial sectors.
Servi Plus and Carti 100: Enhancing Service and Logistics Efficiency
The Servi Plus robot is tailored for the restaurant industry, capable of delivering food via multiple trays with maximum efficiency. Featuring 100% autonomous driving technology, it can navigate narrow spaces, detect obstacles with near-zero blind spots, and dynamically plan alternate routes.
Meanwhile, the Carti 100 focuses on factory and warehouse logistics. It offers up to three times greater productivity while significantly reducing labor costs, making it an ideal choice for businesses seeking scalable automation solutions.
Fostering Technological Innovation in Robotics
Beyond the battery supply agreement, LGES and Bear Robotics will collaborate on technology development to strengthen their positions in the global robotics market. Founded in 2017 by CEO John Ha, Bear Robotics is a leading AI-powered robotics company with operations in over 20 countries. By integrating advanced automation into public and industrial spaces, Bear Robotics is redefining the role of robots in modern society.
The partnership underscores LGES’s commitment to safety, a critical requirement for robots operating in high-traffic public areas. LGES applies innovative materials, such as NCMA cathodes and reinforced ceramic-coated separators, ensuring outstanding product reliability and performance.
Expanding into High-Growth Markets
This collaboration aligns with LGES’s broader strategy to diversify its business portfolio and explore high-potential markets. Beyond electric vehicles, LGES is targeting robotics, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and marine applications as part of its corporate vision, “Empower Every Possibility,” announced in October.
By partnering with Bear Robotics, LGES has solidified its position in the global robotics industry, paving the way for further innovations and market growth. This strategic alliance exemplifies LGES’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower the future of automation.
