Tesla China Reports Strong September Deliveries with 66% Year-on-Year Growth

October 10 – Tesla China achieved impressive sales figures in September, delivering 88,321 vehicles, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, domestic sales surpassed 72,000 units, reflecting a remarkable 66% year-on-year growth.

The standout models were the Model Y and Model 3, with the former selling over 48,000 units and the latter exceeding 24,000 units. This strong performance has solidified Tesla’s position as the top luxury car manufacturer in China, leading in both the luxury car and luxury sedan categories.

Additionally, the cumulative export volume from Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory has now surpassed one million vehicles, further demonstrating the factory’s pivotal role in Tesla’s global operations.

Tesla also announced an upcoming event titled “WE, ROBOT,” scheduled for October 11 at 10 AM Beijing time, where the company is expected to unveil its much-anticipated Robotaxi. CEO Elon Musk has stated that this event will be “historic,” underscoring the significance of the release.

In the third quarter of 2024, Tesla produced a record 469,796 electric vehicles and delivered 462,890, setting a new high for the year. Additionally, the company’s energy storage products reached an installation capacity of 6.9 GWh. To date, Tesla has delivered approximately 1.3 million electric vehicles in 2024, showcasing its continued dominance in the EV market.

Tesla’s strong performance in September, particularly in the competitive Chinese market, highlights the brand’s resilience and growing popularity. With innovative products and strategic expansions, Tesla is well-positioned to maintain its leadership in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape.
