On June 29, according to reports from multiple media outlets, Tesla China has recently started to recall previously laid-off employees. It is expected that the recall will exceed 100 people, and the recalled employees are mainly concentrated in the charging, sales, after-sales and delivery departments.
At the same time, a blogger broke the news that the rehired employees will return the N+3 compensation for the previous layoffs. In response to this matter, some media asked former Tesla employees for confirmation, and the other party said that the news was true, but it was not a return of N+3, but a return of “3”, that is, a return of 3 months of basic salary, and the company length of service was recalculated.
Former employees said: “This rehire is equivalent to re-entering the job. Even if the previously promised stocks are returned, they will not be available, so it is still a loss.”
Regarding the recall of laid-off employees, some media contacted Tesla China staff, who responded: “I don’t know the specific situation.”
On April 15 this year, Musk sent an email to all employees, saying that the company would cut 10% of its global employees. The layoffs in China included customer service staff, engineers, production line workers and logistics teams, among which after-sales service was the hardest hit area, with an optimization ratio of 20% to 40%, and the layoff ratio in some departments was as high as 50%.
A former Tesla salesperson revealed to the media that some supermarkets with large layoffs only retained 5 to 6 people, which was not conducive to the normal operation of the stores. Under normal circumstances, it should be 8 to 9 people. Some dismissed employees were not very interested in Tesla’s re-employment action. Some of them have joined Weilai Ledao and started new jobs.
