ReFeel New Energy Sells 52MW Battery Storage Project in Tuscany to Engie Italia

ReFeel New Energy has completed the sale of a 52MW ready-to-build battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Tuscany to Engie Italia, marking a significant transaction in Italy’s growing energy storage market.

The project, developed by the joint venture between ReFeel and SUSI Partners, secured a 15-year capacity market contract through Terna’s February 2025 auction for the delivery year 2027. The successful sale demonstrates the maturity of ReFeel New Energy’s project pipeline and the quality of its development execution, according to SUSI Partners.

Strategic Expansion into Battery Storage

ReFeel New Energy was established in early 2022 as a solar photovoltaic development platform within the SUSI Energy Transition Fund. The company has since expanded its portfolio to include battery energy storage development, capitalizing on SUSI Partners’ extensive experience in the sector.

The platform is led and co-owned by a local management team with a 15-year track record in the clean energy sector, having previously founded and managed ReFeel, an established renewable energy company.

SUSI Partners’ Energy Transition Focus

The SUSI Energy Transition Fund specializes in establishing and scaling platforms that develop, construct, acquire, and operate energy transition infrastructure assets across Europe and other key OECD markets. With over 15 years of operational history, SUSI Partners has raised more than EUR 2.3 billion in investor capital to date.

In September 2025, SUSI Partners announced an agreement to become part of UK-based Gresham House, further strengthening its position in the European energy transition market.

The sale to Engie Italia, a major energy company with substantial operations in Italy’s power sector, positions the project for successful development and operation as Italy continues to expand its battery storage capacity to support grid stability and renewable energy integration.
