Global Capacity Expansion Accelerates to Meet Soaring Demand

To address the surge in global orders, CATL is rapidly advancing its worldwide production capacity. Anticipating market demand, the company initiated extensive capacity expansion projects in advance.
In China, significant expansions are underway in Jining (Shandong), Ruiqing (Guangdong), Yichun (Jiangxi), Xiamen (Fujian), Qinghai, and Ningde (Fujian). The Jining base alone is expected to add over 100 GWh of new energy storage capacity by 2026.
Overseas, CATL’s German plant achieved profitability in 2024, while the Hungary plant’s Phase I production line has begun equipment commissioning and is expected to complete installation by the end of 2025. In Spain, CATL has completed pre-approval procedures and formed a joint venture to begin factory construction. Meanwhile, the Indonesia battery industrial chain project—with a planned capacity of 15 GWh—will support both EV and energy storage applications, targeting production in the first half of 2026.

NP3.0 Technology Sets a New Global Standard for Battery Safety and Performance

In September, CATL unveiled the world’s first NP3.0 technology and its Shenxing Pro battery, marking a major leap in safety and performance.
NP3.0 integrates eight core innovations—including flame-retardant electrolytes and nano-coating cathode materials—to ensure that even under extreme thermal runaway, the system remains powered, stable, and smoke-free.
Designed for L3/L4 autonomous driving, NP3.0 provides unprecedented safety assurance.
The Shenxing Pro battery introduces a Wave cell structure, increasing energy density by over 3% and enhancing pack stiffness by 25%. The Long Range version offers up to 758 km range, while the Ultra-Fast Charging version supports 12C peak charging, enabling 410 km recharge in 20 minutes, even in subzero conditions.

Sodium-ion Breakthrough Passes National Standard Certification

CATL’s new-generation sodium-ion battery became the first globally certified under China’s new national standard, solidifying its safety and scalability for mass adoption.
With advantages in low-temperature performance, safety, and resource sustainability, sodium-ion batteries reduce reliance on lithium resources.
CATL achieved industrialization of its first-generation sodium battery in 2023. The new model, launched in April 2025, delivers 90% energy retention at -40°C, supports 5C fast charging, provides up to 500 km range, and boasts over 10,000 cycles, covering more than 40% of the domestic market.
The battery pack is compatible with CATL’s standard system, and the passenger car sodium battery will be deployed by year-end 2025.
For commercial applications, the 4V sodium battery for heavy trucks outperforms lead-acid batteries, and the 24V model is undergoing installation testing.

Deepening Strategic Partnerships to Build a Green Energy Ecosystem

CATL continues to strengthen its ecosystem through strategic partnerships.
It has formed a strategic alliance with JD Group, integrating advanced battery technology with digital supply chains to build a “green, zero-carbon, and intelligent” industrial collaboration model.
Together, they are developing official battery-swapping channels for the Chocolate Swap System, promoting vehicle–battery separation and accelerating EV adoption.
Additionally, CATL and Sinopec are jointly building a nationwide battery-swapping network; the first Chocolate Swap Station and Qiji heavy-truck swap station are already operational, empowering the future of sustainable transport.

Championing “Born for Recycling”: Leading Global Battery Circular Economy

At the Munich International Motor Show, CATL launched its “Born for Recycling” initiative during the Global Battery Circular Economy Forum.
CATL emphasized that achieving a circular battery economy requires system-level collaboration—embedding recyclability into battery design, standardization, data transparency, and global cooperation—to maximize lifecycle value.
By combining technology innovation and sustainable strategy, CATL aims to lead the global energy transition and shape a greener future.

Summary

With solid financial growth and breakthrough innovation, CATL has achieved a dual leap in technology and ecosystem development.
The NP3.0 technology redefines EV safety standards for the autonomous era, while the certified sodium-ion battery paves the way for large-scale deployment.
Through strategic partnerships and global capacity expansion, CATL continues to lead the renewable and circular energy revolution worldwide.
