1GWh Milestone! Trina Storage Secures Massive Battery Deal in Italy

A Breakthrough Cooperative Milestone

Trina Storage has achieved a significant breakthrough in the European market, officially signing its first large-scale battery storage supply agreement in Italy with Aer Soléir.

Trina Storage

Located in Rondissone in the Turin area, the project boasts a massive capacity of 250MW/1000MWh, drawing significant attention across the energy industry.

Both companies stated that this 1GWh scheme will be one of the largest battery energy storage projects in Italy and Europe, representing a key milestone in their cooperation.

Serving National Grid Strategy

The project was awarded under Italy’s capacity market auction for 2027 deliveries, underscoring its high strategic value for the region’s energy infrastructure.

Once operational, it will support grid reliability, effectively reduce curtailment, and provide strong backing for national renewable energy targets.

Leadership Outlook

Philip King, Chief Operating Officer of Aer Soléir, expressed high expectations: “The team at Aer Soléir is excited to see the Rondissone BESS project reach the major milestone of signing its supply agreement with Trina Storage.”

He added: “Rondissone represents the first construction start in our important Italian portfolio, and we look forward to working alongside valued partners like Trina Storage.”

Deploying Advanced Technology

On the execution level, Trina Storage will supply, deliver, and commission the project using its advanced Elementa 2 Pro system.

The hardware scope includes 228 battery cabinets and 36 integrated PCS (Power Conversion System) and medium-voltage (MV) skid enclosures, along with a power plant controller.

Lifecycle Service Assurance

Beyond hardware supply, Trina Storage will provide a comprehensive 20-year service agreement to ensure efficient operation throughout the project’s lifecycle.

This coverage includes maintenance, spare parts management, 24/7 remote support, as well as extended warranty and performance guarantees.

Deepening Commitment to Italy

Gabriele Buccini, Head of Trina Storage Europe, emphasized: “Italy is one of the most promising markets for energy storage, thanks to the combination of the capacity market, the MACSE programme, and the country’s accelerating renewable deployment.”

Buccini added: “This first 1 GWh project in Rondissone marks the start of our long-term commitment to Italy.”

Expanding the European Footprint

This signing not only solidifies Trina Storage’s position in Southern Europe but also strongly supports its growing business footprint across the continent.

Trina Storage stated that this deal supports its expanding European portfolio, which now exceeds 4GWh of contracted projects, demonstrating strong competitiveness in the global storage market.
