Xiaomi YU7 Officially Launching in Late June: Three EV Variants with Enhanced Safety, Range, and Performance

[Beijing, June 16, 2025] – Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun officially confirmed on Weibo that the long-anticipated Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV will be officially launched at the end of June. The lineup will feature three versions:

  • Xiaomi YU7 (Long Range RWD)
  • Xiaomi YU7 Pro (Long Range AWD)
  • Xiaomi YU7 Max (High-Performance AWD)

The YU7 series marks Xiaomi’s next major step in the EV industry, targeting the premium all-electric SUV market with competitive performance, intelligent driving, and outstanding structural safety.

Safety First: Industry-Leading 2200MPa Ultra-High-Strength Steel Door Beams

Lei Jun highlighted a major advancement in passive safety—each YU7 model will be equipped with four 2200MPa ultra-high-strength door impact beams across all front and rear doors. This structure significantly enhances protection in side-impact collisions by creating a solid barrier around the passenger cabin.

Compared to traditional 1500MPa beams, this upgrade offers:

  • +52.4% front door load-bearing capacity
  • +40.2% front door energy absorption capacity
  • +37.6% rear door load-bearing capacity
  • +25.4% rear door energy absorption capacity

This puts the YU7 among the top of its class in terms of passive crash safety for side collisions.

The YU7 standard version targets maximum range with LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery chemistry and a CLTC range of 835 km, currently the longest among mid-to-large RWD EV SUVs in China.

The Pro variant upgrades to dual-motor AWD, boosting acceleration and traction while maintaining strong range.

The Max version pushes the envelope with a 101.7kWh NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) battery, 508kW peak power, and an astonishing 3.23-second 0-100 km/h sprint. It supports 5.2C ultra-fast charging, capable of replenishing 620 km of range in just 15 minutes.

Full-Stack Smart Technology and Driving Assistance

Across all versions, Xiaomi YU7 integrates industry-leading smart hardware and software:

  • 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform
  • LIDAR system with effective range up to 200 meters
  • 4D millimeter-wave radar for enhanced weather penetration
  • NVIDIA Thor 700TOPS automotive platform
  • Xiaomi’s proprietary smart cockpit with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip
  • Dynamic suspension with adjustable damping
  • Electrochromic panoramic roof & intelligent rear-seat control

The entire lineup supports L2++ level assisted driving, with Xiaomi’s latest self-developed fusion computing module. Lei Jun emphasized that AI capabilities are deeply embedded in every aspect of Xiaomi’s intelligent driving.

Official Launch Timeline & Ecosystem Expansion

Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi is finalizing preparations for a late June launch, and that several new Xiaomi ecosystem products will be unveiled alongside the YU7, including the first Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro equipped with the powerful Surge 01 chip.

The YU7 is expected to further strengthen Xiaomi’s presence in the smart EV market and serve as a flagship benchmark for the company’s global EV expansion strategy, which is targeted to begin by 2027.

Conclusion: Xiaomi YU7 Redefines the All-Electric SUV Standard

With 835km maximum range, ultra-fast charging, cutting-edge smart driving, and enhanced crash safety, the Xiaomi YU7 represents a major leap in the company’s vehicle lineup. More than just an electric SUV, it embodies Xiaomi’s “full-stack” approach to automotive innovation—integrating hardware, software, AI, and safety engineering into a single cohesive product.

As Xiaomi moves closer to delivering its EVs to a global audience, the YU7 sets the tone: safe, smart, and powerful.
