Nidec ASI Spa, a subsidiary of Nidec Corporation, Kyoto, Japan, has secured its first battery energy storage deal in the US, Renews.biz reports.
The system, for an undisclosed client and valued at $30.5m, will enter full commercial operation in 2021.
Nidec ASI also has the role of engineering, procurement and construction contractor on the project and will also service the storage plant for 10 years. The capacity of the storage system is also undisclosed.
Nidec ASI will install the storage system, which will comprise of 12 battery units.
The storage plant help alleviate grid congestion during peaks in demand and store any surplus renewable energy produced which can then be injected back in the grid to guarantee stability at all times, helping integrate surplus solar generation in the area.
