Hyundai investing in cobalt-free solid-state batteries

Hyundai joins Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and A123 Systems in their investment into Ionic Materials. The American startup is working on colbalt-free materials for solid-state batteries.

Ionic Materials is using a patented solid polymer material, that first convinced Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and also battery maker A123 Systems to invest.

Hyundai has joined the circle of supporters though their CRADLE subsidiary but failed to disclose the sum of the investment.
